As previously mentioned in this blog, two of our dancers, Faith and Allie, went to Orlando, Florida earlier this month to dance in the Capital One Bowl Halftime Show. Well, their accomplishments have been noticed locally – they are featured in this week’s South Charlotte Weekly!

We are very proud to see others recognize our students for their wonderful dance accomplishments. We take great pride at Dancers Unite in giving our students wonderful opportunities to achieve in dance by assembling a highly talented dance teaching staff and giving our most dedicated dancers lots of performance and competitive opportunities.

Latin Dance Course in Charlotte

Charlotte Dance Class for 4 Year Olds

Previously I have discussed the overall program Dancers Unite has for preschoolers, but today I would like to put in the spotlight one specific class. We have a Saturday morning class from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM for 4 year olds that includes tap, ballet, tumbling and creative movement. This dance meets at a convenient time for parents who work during the week and is an hour in length so students can really master key terminology and steps. If you are interested in this dance class for your 4 year old, hurry and register today so that your child can participate in our June 3^rd recital at Dana Auditorium in the Myers Park neighborhood of Charlotte.

University Area of Charlotte Dance Studio Performance

This afternoon a group of our competition dancers performed at the University Place Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in the University Area of Charlotte. Our dancers performed some of their routines, which ranged from lyrical to jazz to musical theater to hip hop, for a wonderful audience of their residents. We are very proud of our dancers for not only being committed to dance but being committed to the community of Charlotte as well.

This was also wonderful practice for our first dance competition of the season, which is next weekend. Yesterday I mentioned the Valentine’s Day raffle fundraiser benefiting our competition team. Today I would like to talk about another fundraiser! Our Dance Competition Company competes regionally and nationally and our older dancers are participating in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City this year, so helping our wonderful young dancers would be greatly appreciated!

Ballet Classes for Toddlers in Charlotte

Dancers Unite has amazing ballet classes for toddlers here in Charlotte, North Carolina! In our ballet classes, toddlers learn poise, balance, and correct terminology. Our ballet classes include creative movement as well which challenges the children’s minds. Additionally, tap and tumbling are included in our toddler classes. We believe that a well rounded dance experience can help toddlers in their early dance career. Then as the children get older they can become more serious in a number of dance forms, if that is what they choose. Regardless, the children should benefit from the exercise and help in coordination.

Broadway Jazz Master Class in Charlotte NC

Dancers Unite is committed to exposing our students to all the latest dance trends and preparing our students for a career in dance if that is what they want. So we are very happy to announce that we are holding a Broadway Connection Master Class this spring!

The class is taught by Bring It On: The Musical cast member Gregory Haney, who has danced on Broadway as well as in numerous touring companies. Bring It On: The Musical will be playing at the Belk Theater in uptown Charlotte at the time, so students can also see him in the show!

For the first hour and a half of the master class, students will learn Contemporary Broadway Jazz choreography in the style of Bring It On: The Musical. Then in the last half hour parents will be able to see what the students have learned and there will be a Q&A session involving training, agents, auditions, headshots, etc.

Dance Studio in Uptown Charlotte Parade

We are very excited to be dancing in the 16^th Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Uptown Charlotte! The St. Patrick’s Day Parade and Charlotte Goes Green Festival is a big day in Charlotte, and as an owner of a Charlotte dance studio I am proud to be a part of it! Additionally, this parade is special to me because years ago I performed in the parade in high school with the Charlotte Catholic Dance Team. I hope our dancers can have as much as fun as we had!

The parade is on St. Patrick’s Day, which is March 17, 2012. The parade starts at 9^th & Tryon Street in Uptown Charlotte and ends at 3^rd & Tryon Street. If you were not already planning to, please stop by the parade to see the festivities and the Dancers Unite dancers! Since the parade is in Uptown Charlotte, it is close to our dance studio.

If you are a current dancer at Dancers Unite and are interested in being part of the parade, please contact the dance studio ASAP to see if you can participate. Our competition team will be dancing, but a select number of non-competitive dancers can hold the banner and will be selected on a first come, first serve basis. Tap Dancing Classes in Charlotte

Dancers Unite has great tap dancing classes here in Charlotte! We offer tap starting at age 2 and offer tap classes for older children and teens as well. We have advanced tap lessons for our advanced teens and also compete in tap. The first dance class I ever took was tap and it has always held a special place in my heart, so I am proud of the tap program at Dancers Unite.

Musical Theater Dance Class in Charlotte

Students in the class work on musical theater dance choreography, which is like the kind of dancing you might see in a Broadway musical. Dancers Unite has many convenient toddler dance classes for working parents in Charlotte, NC. Take our Thursday 5:00 PM 3 year old dance class. It is after work for a lot of parents, and since we are located in the Dilworth neighborhood of Charlotte, we are a couple of minutes away from daycare centers around uptown Charlotte. So you can take your child to dance class after work is over and then be done for the day! Jazz Dancing Class in Charlotte NC

Dancers Unite has a great jazz dancing class in Charlotte, NC for teens. The advanced level teen class is already closed (DU closes classes that reach the size limit to make sure every student gets lots of attention from the teachers) but the beginner level class is still open for registration.

Students in this class can learn so much because of the individual attention from teachers. Also, if you join ASAP, you can be in DU’s yearly recital, held this June at Dana Auditorium on Selwyn Avenue in Myers Park.

Full Day Dance Camp in Charlotte NC

Looking for a full day camp for your child? Try the World Dance Camp at Dancers Unite!

The World Dance Camp at Dancers Unite is a wonderful experience for your child! Each day will be focused on a different part of the world. Campers will learn native dances of each part of the world by different teachers with expertise in the dance forms. The campers will also learn history of the different parts of the world as well! It is a wonderful mix of history and arts.

The camp meets Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM. We also have the option for working parents to sign your child up for extended hours. Our extended hours run from 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM, for an additional cost.

It’s hard to believe 2011 is about to end! What a year it has been for Dancers Unite! Some of our highlights have been:

We also had a wonderful competition season, with wins at regional competitions and our national competition at Showstoppers National Finals in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

Dancers Unite is not the type of dance studio, though, to rest on our laurels. 2012 should be even better! With performances at the Capital One Bowl in Orlando, Florida coming up in a few days and a performance at the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City in November 2012, how could it not be?

Today is a very exciting day for Dancers Unite. Two of our dancers, Allie and Faith, are going to Orlando so that they can dance at the Capital One Bowl Halftime Show! Through our dance studio they qualified to dance in this prestigious event. The game is not until Monday, but in the meantime they get to enjoy all kinds of festivities, including trips to Universal Studios and Disney World!

At Dancers Unite, we are always trying to give our dancers opportunities to not only dance and perform in Charlotte, but across the country as well. For example, next Thanksgiving our dancers ages 14 to 18 years old can dance at the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade!

Dance Courses in Charlotte NC Starting January 2012

With 2012 just a few days away, it’s a great time to start a brand new dance class! Dancers Unite has new sessions of popular dance classes starting in January.

Latin Dance Course – This class is for adults. Students in the class learn multiple Latin Dances: Cha Cha, Hustle, Merengue, Bachata, Rumba and of course the Salsa!

Meets on Tuesday Evenings for 6 weeks starting January 3^rd , 2012

Belly Dance – This class is for students ages 8 to 98! There are 2 levels, one for beginner and one for advanced students. Students in the beginner class can have little to no belly dance experience.

Meets on Wednesday Evenings for 5 weeks starting January 4^th, 2012

Introduction to Dance – This class is for beginner 2 and 3 year olds. Students in this class are introduced to multiple dance forms: ballet, tap, creative movement and tumbling.

Plaza Midwood Neighborhood Dance Studio Performance

Last week, our dance studio performed at a Holiday Tree Lighting in Matthews. Today our dance studio performed at a Holiday Celebration at the headquarters of the 108^th Training Command of the Army in the Plaza Midwood neighborhood of Charlotte.

It was a wonderful holiday celebration for military families, and our dance studio was proud to be part of the entertainment. Our dancers performed jazz, lyrical and hip hop dances with a Holiday and Patriotic theme. At the end of our performance, our dance studio was honored with a certificate from the Army for our participation!

Ballet Dance Classes in Charlotte for 3 Year Olds

My dance studio, Dancers Unite, has great ballet dance classes in Charlotte, North Carolina. The ballet class for 3 year olds is part of a combination dance class that includes tap, tumbling and creative movement as well as ballet. Unlike many dance classes offered for 3 year olds in Charlotte, our dance classes are 1 hour long. This gives the dance instructors time to teach ballet, tap and tumbling while including creative movement exercises. Students then improve their balance, strength, rhythm and creativity.

Dance Classes for 8th Graders in Charlotte NC

Are you an 8^th grader in Charlotte NC and want to take dance classes? Both students without dance experience as well as experienced should try out the dance classes at Dancers Unite!

If you are an 8^th grader, then you can look at the following classes:

Ballet: Students taking ballet at Dancers Unite learn classical ballet instruction. There is both a Beginner Ballet & Advanced Ballet Class.
Hip Hop: Students learn the latest hip hop dance styles, moves and choreography in our fast paced Teen Hip Hop Class.
Jazz: Students work on jazz technique and choreography in Dancers Unite Jazz Classes. They are offered at both a beginner & advanced level.
Lyrical/Cotemporary: Students work on choreography in this class similar to what you might see on So You Think You Can Dance. We have an Advanced Lyrical/Contemporary Class as well as a Beginner Lyrical/Contemporary Class for teens.
Modern: Students taking modern work on modern technique as well as choreography.
Pointe: This is a class for advanced ballet students, where students dance wearing pointe shoes. You must have teacher approval in order to take this class.
Tap: Both students new to tap and students with tap experience can take tap at Dancers Unite! In our advanced tap class, students work on complex steps and rhythms.
Tumbling: We have both beginner & advanced tumbling classes, where students can work on floor gymnastics skills with our trained instructors.

Additionally, you can look at our Jumps, Leaps & Turn Class if you want a technique class where you work on skills and not choreography. No routine would be performed in the yearly recital for students in this class.

Matthews North Carolina Dance School Performance

Today was a wonderful day for Dancers Unite! Our dance studio was part of the entertainment at the Matthews Tree Lighting in Matthews, NC!

The event itself was a very fun family event, with games, refreshments, magic tricks, picture opportunities with Santa and more. Of course, my favorite part was when our dancers performed on stage! A group of our dancers ages 8 years old and up performed a medley of jazz and hip hop dance routines.

If you were unable to attend, don’t worry; our dancers will be dancing on December 11^th at the Army Reserve on Central Avenue (in the Plaza Midwood neighborhood of Charlotte). Myers Park Neighborhood Dance Studio Recital

We are so excited about Dancers Unite’s Annual Recital! Once again it will take place at nearby Dana Auditorium, which is part of the Queens University Campus in the Myers Park neighborhood of Charlotte. It will also again take place the first weekend in June, so the recital will be on June 3, 2012.

This year, however, our recital will be split up into two performances! We will first have a pre-show at 1:00 PM and then at 2:00 PM will be the main recital. It will be a wonderful afternoon showcasing many different styles of dance, from ballet to hip hop to tap and more! It will also feature dancers ranging from age 2 to adult!

If you would like your child to be part of the recital and have not signed your child up for dance lessons yet, then you will need to sign your child up ASAP! Please see our Dance Class Page to see which dance classes still have room for new students.

Charlotte Dance Classes for 5th Graders

Dancers Unite has a lot of great dance classes for 5^th graders! Dancers in these classes will get an opportunity to dance in our yearly recital as well as other dance performance opportunities.

If your child is a 5^th grader, then you can look at the following classes:

Ballet: Students in these classes learn classical ballet instruction. Ballet classes are divided by level.
Hip Hop/Jazz: 5^th Graders at Dancers Unite can take the hip hop/jazz combination dance class, where students learn both jazz and hip hop choreography and perform both a jazz and hip hop dance in the recital. Students also work on mastering jazz technique and break dancing moves.
Modern: Students in modern work on modern technique and choreography.
Musical Theater: Students in musical theater work on choreography and steps similar to what you would see in a Broadway play.
Tap: Students in tap work on making rhythms with their tap shoes and learning important tap vocabulary.
Tumbling: Students in tumbling work on floor gymnastics skills. Tumbling classes are divided by level.

Dancers Unite has a great ballet class for advanced 9, 10 and 11 year old children. The ballet class provides classical ballet instruction. Plaza Midwood Dance School Performance

Yesterday I mentioned how this December we were performing for a Holiday Celebration in Matthews, North Carolina. Well, we are also performing this December at a Tribute for the Troops! This performance will take place at the US Army Reserve Headquarters on Westover Street, which is right off Central Avenue in Plaza Midwood, on Sunday December 11th.

It is very exciting that we get a chance to dance for the troops and honor our country’s brave military. We are proud our dance studio was asked and can’t wait for the fun afternoon!

Matthews NC Dance Studio Performance

Want to check out how great our dancers are? Come see Dancers Unite perform this holiday season!

This year, Dancers Unite dancers will be performing at the Matthews Hometown Holiday Celebration & Tree Lighting, which takes place on December 3rd, a Saturday afternoon, from 3 PM to 6 PM. In addition to our dancing, there will also be choruses singing, carriage rides, and crafts for children. There will also of course be a Tree Lighting, and a visit from Santa!

Matthews is a south Charlotte suburb of which I am a proud resident. The event will be taking place at the Village Green in front of Matthews Town Hall.

Tumbling Classes in South Charlotte

Live in South Charlotte and looking for a tumbling class for your child? Then try Dancers Unite! We are conveniently located in the Dilworth neighborhood and offer tumbling classes starting at age two up to teen.

For our younger students, tumbling is offered as part of a combination dance class. You can expect students to work on more basic skills for this age range (such as forward rolls). Then we offer tumbling separately starting with kindergarten age, where students start working on more advanced skills. For our middle & high school students, we offer beginner & advanced level tumbling classes.

Our tumbling classes have wonderful student to teacher ratios to ensure each student gets one on one time with the instructor(s) to work on specific skills. Also, this ensures our tumbling classes are run safely.

Beginner Dance Class in Charlotte for Toddlers

Want to try your 2 or 3 year old son or daughter in dance, but unsure if he or she is ready? Then try the Dancers Unite’s Intro To Dance Course! With the entire course costing $45 with no registration fee, it is an inexpensive way to try dance without making any commitments! It is a great class for children new to dance or children wanting to graduate from a Mommy & Me Class to a dance class all by him or herself!

In the Intro to Dance Course, students will be exposed to ballet, tap, tumbling and creative movement. It is a 30 minute class meeting on Mondays from 5:00-5:30 PM from January 9^th to January 30^th, 2012. Students could then switch to one of our forty-five minute 2 Year Old Classes or our one hour 3 Year Old Classes, depending on the child’s age. Charlotte Dance Competition Team Fundraiser

With the Competition Company’s first dance competition quickly approaching, our Dance Competition Company is doing fundraisers to help with the costs. Our Competition Company is currently selling Citipass books, where a percentage of the sale will help pay for entry fees & costume fees! Just a reminder that starting today, it is Dancers Unite’s Bring A Friend Week! That means that for this week only (Monday through Saturday) you can bring a friend to dance class so he or she can take the class, too! I mentioned earlier in this blog that we are holding another Latin Dance Session, this time from October 25^th to November 29^th. While the Latin Dance Course will once again cover the Cha Cha Cha, Rumba, Bachata, Merengue and Salsa, the course will now include a new dance form: The Hustle!

The Hustle is known for its fast pace and lots of turns! While it was originally danced to Disco Music, it can be danced to the popular modern music of today. It is still popular in many Latin clubs today!

Not sure if you want to put your child in dance or gymnastics? Try your child out in both at Dancers Unite!

If your child is between the age of 2 and 4, then both floor gymnastics and dance (tap, ballet and creative movement) are included in the combination class.

If your child is 5 or up, then he or she could take our floor gymnastics (otherwise known as Tumbling) class as well as a dance class. At Dancers Unite, we have a sliding scale for tuition, so taking both those classes at our studio would mean you would save a lot of money rather than taking both gymnastics and dance at two different places.

First of all, since it is the week leading up to Halloween, students will be allowed to wear their Halloween costumes to dance class!

This means that for this week, all current DU students can bring a friend into their dance class and the friend can try the class for free and wear her or his Halloween costume, too! First of all, we have a Beginner Tumbling Class for Teens on Monday nights from 5:30-6:30. In this class, you would work on a lot of the tumbling skills often required in cheerleading tryouts.

I am so excited to be teaching the Advanced Tap Class for teens at Dancers Unite with my sister. Tap was always my favorite style of dance growing up!

Dance School Performance on Sandy Porter Road in Charlotte

On Saturday, some of our dancers performed at the Charlotte Mommies Event at Olympic High School, which is in southwest Charlotte on Sandy Porter Road. In keeping with the New York theme of the event, we performed a New York themed production number that included jazz, lyrical and hip hop.

This marked the first performance for our dance school for the 2011-2012 dance school year. Our dance school always tries to give our dancers opportunities to perform because we believe it makes children stronger dancers and it also helps with stage fright. Last year we performed at a retirement home, a fashion show, a pageant and a Winter Holiday Parade. You can see pictures from these events in our Dance School Photo & Video Page. Dancers Unite has great hip hop dance classes for children. You can start taking hip hop when you are in kindergarten. Our hip hop dance classes for children include a wonderful mixture of technique, choreography, and break dancing moves. Charlotte NC Tumbling Classes for Beginners

Dancers Unite has a great Tumbling Class for beginners. It is for pre-teens and teens (ages 10 & up) and is on Monday nights from 5:30-6:30 PM. This class is for students with little to no tumbling experience. It is great for those who want to make the middle or high school cheerleading squad but do not have the required tumbling skills. It is also just great for anyone who has wanted to learn tumbling tricks like walkovers and handstands.

Ballet Classes in Charlotte North Carolina

Dancers Unite has a lot of great ballet classes, from the beginner 2 year old dancer to the advanced teenager dancing en pointe. We pride ourselves in our wonderful Ballet Program. We provide classical ballet instruction taught by trained ballet instructors, which you can see for yourself on our Dance Instructor Page. We limit class size so that each student has individual attention from the teacher, because technique is very important in ballet and if you are one of many students, then it is hard for instructors to give you individual critiques specific to your technique.

Morning Adult Dance Classes in Charlotte

Dancers Unite has great morning dance classes located right here in Charlotte for adults!

On Tuesday mornings, we have a Zumba Class from 10:45-11:45. Zumba is a very popular dance fitness workout. It combines a lot of popular dance forms (such as Hip Hop, Belly Dance, Samba and Salsa) and it is a great way to shed those extra pounds!

On Saturday mornings, we have an African Dance Class from 10:00-11:00 AM. In this class, you will learn dances from all across Africa. You will even get to perform a dance in the DU yearly recital!

Creative Movement Dance Classes in Charlotte

My Charlotte based dance studio, Dancers Unite, has a lot of great creative movement dance classes for 2 year olds, 3 year olds, 4 year olds and 5 year olds who are not in kindergarten yet. Earlier I discussed the modern dance class we offer at our dance studio for teens. Well, we also offer a modern dance class for younger children as well. We have a Modern Dance Class for 4^th to 6^th graders at Dancers Unite on Wednesdays from 4:45-5:30 PM. Modern is a discipline that encourages creativity as well as self-expression. While many dance studios all over the world offer modern dance, you do not see it at every dance studio in the Charlotte metro area so we are excited to offer a modern dance class for 9 to 12 year olds.

Ever been interested in learning the Bachata? It is a dance that hails from the Dominican Republic. You see it danced in night clubs worldwide, and now you can be doing the dance too!

Morning Weekday Fitness Classes in Myers Park Area of Charlotte

Now that the kids are heading back to school, it is a good time for Charlotte moms to start fitness classes! Dancers Unite has a once a week Zumba Class from 10:45-11:45 on Tuesday mornings, starting the Tuesday after Labor Day. Zumba is a popular, fun dance fitness program that includes all kinds of different dances (Hip-Hop, Merengue, Bollywood, Belly Dance, Salsa, Samba, etc.). It is a wonderful way to get in shape, and it is even more fun if you come to Zumba class with your girlfriends! Also, if you have a three year old, then there is a dance class for 3 year olds going on in the other room so your child can dance while you dance!

We are located in the Dilworth neighborhood of Charlotte, which is close to Myers Park, Eastover, Elizabeth, etc. You would be taking the class in our large 1,200 square foot dance room with sprung floors, which prevent injuries that could be caused when you do Zumba on a non-sprung floor.

Charlotte Dance Studio Open House

Our Open House is this Saturday (August 27^th) from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. It should be a really fun morning at our dance studio! We will have refreshments, games and prizes…and of course you can sign up for dance classes as well! You will always be able to purchase jazz/hip hop shoes, as well as ballet and tap shoes in children’s sizes.

If you are unable to attend the Open House, then don’t worry! We will have Office Hours on Tuesday night from 5:00-7:00 PM! Here you can register for dance classes and order shoes, although unfortunately there will be no games, prizes or refreshments.

Modern Dance Classes for Teens in Charlotte

Dancers Unite is offering a great Teen Modern Class on Thursday nights from 7:30-8:30 PM. Not all dance studios in Charlotte offer modern dance, so we are glad to offer modern to the teens in Charlotte interested in modern.

If you are unfamiliar to modern but love other forms of dance, then taking modern would benefit you as well. Modern is a great class to take to get better at other dance styles. The stretching and strengthening helps a dancer’s muscles and body. It also helps a dancer with balance and control. Students in this class will perform a modern dance in our yearly dance recital.

Beginner Dance Lessons for Adults in Charlotte NC

Are you an adult in the Charlotte metro area who loves to dance but has no formal training? There are a couple of dance classes that would be great for you at my dance studio, Dancers Unite!

First, there is a Latin Dance Course where you would learn the Cha Cha, Merengue, Bachata, Salsa and Rumba. This is more of an introductory course where you would learn the basics of these wonderful Latin Dances. This class starts Tuesday September 13^th and runs for 6 weeks. It ends Tuesday October 18^th. The class is from 6:00-7:00 PM and costs $63.

The other class is a 5 week Bellydance Course that meets on Wednesday evenings from 6:30-7:30 PM. It is for students with little to no Bellydance experience, so you would fit right in! The next session begins August 24^th and ends September 28^th. It costs $58.

Guys' Hip Hop Dance Classes in Charlotte

Dancers Unite has always been a great place to go for hip hop classes for elementary school boys, since we have “Boys Only Classes”. Now we are very excited that due to popular demand, we are adding a Guys Only Hip Hop Class for older students!

This Male Only Hip Hop Class is for ages 10 & up. It is on Tuesdays from 4:15-5:00 PM. This class is only for guys, so no worry about having to dance with girls (if a guy does not mind dancing with girls, he is perfectly welcome to dance in our other hip hop dance classes as well)! The guys in this class will learn hip hop choreography and fun break dancing moves.

Jazz Dance Classes in Charlotte NC

Dancers Unite offers jazz dance lessons starting at age 5 as part of a combination dance class with ballet and tap. For students in fourth to sixth grade they can take jazz as part of a combination dance class with hip hop. Starting in seventh grade, students at Dancers Unite can take jazz separately and it is split into 2 levels: Beginner Jazz and Advanced Jazz.

The Beginner Jazz Dance Class meets on Thursdays from 7:45-8:45 PM. This is a great class for students with little to no jazz experience. In addition to learning choreography, students will be introduced to jumps, splits, leaps, turns, leg holds and other fun steps.

The Advanced Jazz Dance Class meets on Wednesdays from 6:30-7:45 PM. Students in this class would need to also take Ballet to help with their technique. This class would be similar to the Beginner Jazz Dance Class, but it would be at a more advanced level. This is great for students with jazz dance experience.

Dancers Unite has great ballet classes for 4 year olds in Charlotte. It is part of a combination dance class that includes ballet, tap, creative movement and tumbling. This way, your 4 year old child can be introduced to multiple styles of dance. While ballet is the foundation of all styles of dance, learning other styles of dance can help your child’s gross motor skills. Latin Dance Classes Charlotte NC

Ever been interested in learning Latin dances? Try learning 5 popular Latin dance styles in Dancers Unite’s Latin Dance Course!

This class will cover the Cha Cha, Merengue, Rumba, Bachata and Salsa:

The Cha Cha got its name from the rhythm of the dance. It became the rage in the U.S. in the 1950s and is now one of the most popular Latin dances in the U.S.

The Merengue is a fun Latin dance with a 2 step beat that originated in the Dominican Republic. The music’s fast tempo makes learning this dance quite the workout!

The Rumba is a slow to medium tempo Latin dance that is of Cuban origin. One of the most important parts of this dance is the hip action, which is known as the Cuban motion.

The Bachata is another dance originating in the Dominican Republic which is danced in Latin night clubs all over the world. The step timing is 3 steps followed by a 1 beat pause.

The Salsa blends Puerto Rican, Cuban and American styles. It is a popular Club dance with similarities to many Latin dances.

Due to interest, Dancers Unite has added a third offering of Ballet/Tap/Jazz for kindergarten & 1^st graders. The other classes meet on Tuesday afternoons and Saturday mornings. This class will meet on Friday evenings from 5:45-6:45 PM. Like the other classes, students in this class will work on ballet, tap and jazz fundamentals. In addition to technique, students will also learn choreography and will do ballet, tap and jazz routines in the yearly dance recital.

Ballet and Pointe Lessons Charlotte

Dancers Unite has great classes for students looking for advanced ballet classes, as well as students looking to go en pointe or who have already danced en pointe. The advanced ballet class for 4^th to 6^th grade students is on Wednesday from 5:30 to 6:30 PM. The advanced ballet class for 7^th to 12^th grade students is on Tuesdays from 7:00-8:00 PM.

The pointe class is on Tuesdays from 8:00-8:45 PM. In order to take pointe, you will need to be evaluated beforehand. Please email the studio if you wish to be evaluated. Once you are approved to take pointe, you will also need to take ballet in addition to pointe. Belly Dance Classes Charlotte North Carolina

There will be no Belly Dance Classes at Dancers Unite this week or next week, but for all of you who love Belly Dance, don’t worry! The next session for Belly Dance will start August 24^th, 2011. This Belly Dance Session will end on Wednesday September 28^th, 2011. This Belly Dance Course will also run in the regular 5 week session, but there will not be a Belly Dance class on Wednesday September 7^th because the talented instructor Naima will be performing at the Las Vegas Bellydance Intensive & Festival.
