Jazz Dance Classes in Charlotte

Looking for a good jazz dance class in Charlotte? Dancers Unite has many jazz classes for both kids and teens!

What can be expected in a Dancers Unite jazz class? In addition to learning fun jazz choreography, jazz students at Dancers Unite will work on jumps, leaps and turns. Jazz terminology will be covered so that students will have a good core understanding of jazz, whether they want to pursue a dance career or just have fun learning this wonderful dance style.

Students ages 6 and 7 will take jazz with tap and ballet, and students can take this on either Tuesdays from 2:15-3:15 PM or Wednesday from 5:30-6:30 PM. Students ages 8 to 10 years old can take this with ballet and tap on Thursday evenings from 5:45-7:00 PM or they can take just jazz on Monday evenings from 5:30-6:00 PM. The teen jazz class is on Monday afternoons from 4:30-5:30 PM.

For more information on how to register for these jazz classes, check out our dance class registration page.

Dancing With The Stars

Fans of the ballroom dancing competition show, Dancing With The Stars, won’t have to wait much longer for the new season, as Season 11 begins tonight at 8:00 on ABC.

Twelve couples will be vying for the mirror ball trophy:

Audrina Patridge and Tony Dovalani
Brandy and Maks Chmerkovskiy
Bristol Palin and Mark Ballas
David Hasselhoff and Kym Johnson
Florence Henderson and Corky Ballas
Jennifer Grey and Derek Hough
Kurt Warner and Anna Trebunskaya
Kyle Massey and Lacey Schwimmer
Margaret Cho and Louis Van Amstel
Michael Bolton and Chelsie Hightower
Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino and Karina Smirnoff
Rick Fox and Cheryl Burke

In many ways, the celebrities appear to be more evenly matched than previous seasons – no one seems to have as extensive of a dance background as previous competitor Nicole Scherzinger, for example. Also, this is the first season with no new professional dancers, which means no star is at a potential disadvantage for having a partner unfamiliar to the show’s viewers.

I have to admit, though, that I’m not quite as excited as I have been for seasons in the past. Then again, sometimes the stars – or the pairings – can surprise you, so perhaps there will be some pleasant surprises in store for Season 11.

Ballet Lessons in Charlotte NC for Teens

The middle and high school years are a great time to continue developing a solid ballet foundation or to try ballet for the first time! At Dancers Unite we have a beginner teen ballet class on Monday evenings from 5:30-6:30 PM. We also have an advanced teen ballet class on Thursday evenings from 6:15-7:15 PM. If you are unsure as to which class you need to be in then feel free to contact the studio via e-mail or call us at 704-846-2985 for assistance in selecting the right time.

For our most advanced ballet students, we have a pointe class. At Dancers Unite, we take great pride in making sure no one dances on pointe before they are ready in order to prevent injuries. Therefore, if you are interested in joining the pointe class, you will need to contact the studio to arrange an evaluation and the instructor will then determine whether or not the student is ready for pointe. For those students who are ready for pointe class, the class is held on Thursday evenings from 7:15-8:15 PM.

For more information on the entire ballet program at Dancers Unite, please check out our ballet class page.
