University Area of Charlotte Dance Studio Performance

This afternoon a group of our competition dancers performed at the University Place Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in the University Area of Charlotte.  Our dancers performed some of their routines, which ranged from lyrical to jazz to musical theater to hip hop, for a wonderful audience of their residents.  We are very proud of our dancers for not only being committed to dance but being committed to the community of Charlotte as well.

Summer Ballet Classes in Charlotte for Toddlers

Want to enroll your toddler in dance classes over the summer but can’t bring your child in during the week for a camp? Then try our Summer Saturday Dance Classes! Dancers Unite offers a combination of ballet, tap, tumbling and creative movement for 2 year olds, 3 year olds and 4 year olds here in Charlotte. It is great for both the experienced dancer who doesn’t want to take the summer off or a toddler brand new to dance.

Madison Park Neighborhood of Charlotte Dance Studio Fundraiser

Yesterday I mentioned the Valentine’s Day raffle fundraiser benefiting our competition team.  Today I would like to talk about another fundraiser!  Our Dance Competition Company competes regionally and nationally and our older dancers are participating in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City this year, so helping our wonderful young dancers would be greatly appreciated!

In this fundraiser, you can help us by ordering take out or dining in at the Panda Express on Seneca Place in the Madison Park neighborhood of South Charlotte!  If you come to Panda Express on February 7^th, 2012 between 3:00 PM and 9:00 PM and bring in this Dancers Unite Competition Fundraiser Flier then 20% of your order will be donated to our dance studio’s Competition Team.  So you can enjoy delicious food while helping us out!

Ballet Classes for Toddlers in Charlotte

Dancers Unite has amazing ballet classes for toddlers here in Charlotte, North Carolina!  In our ballet classes, toddlers learn poise, balance, and correct terminology.  Our ballet classes include creative movement as well which challenges the children’s minds.  Additionally, tap and tumbling are included in our toddler classes.  We believe that a well rounded dance experience can help toddlers in their early dance career.  Then as the children get older they can become more serious in a number of dance forms, if that is what they choose.  Regardless, the children should benefit from the exercise and help in coordination.

Broadway Jazz Master Class in Charlotte NC

Dancers Unite is committed to exposing our students to all the latest dance trends and preparing our students for a career in dance if that is what they want.  So we are very happy to announce that we are holding a Broadway Connection Master Class this spring!

The class is taught by Bring It On: The Musical cast member Gregory Haney, who has danced on Broadway as well as in numerous touring companies.  Bring It On: The Musical will be playing at the Belk Theater in uptown Charlotte at the time, so students can also see him in the show!

For the first hour and a half of the master class, students will learn Contemporary Broadway Jazz choreography in the style of Bring It On: The Musical.   Then in the last half hour parents will be able to see what the students have learned and there will be a Q&A session involving training, agents, auditions, headshots, etc.

Dance Studio in Uptown Charlotte Parade

We are very excited to be dancing in the 16^th Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Uptown Charlotte!  The St. Patrick’s Day Parade and Charlotte Goes Green Festival is a big day in Charlotte, and as an owner of a Charlotte dance studio I am proud to be a part of it!  Additionally, this parade is special to me because years ago I performed in the parade in high school with the Charlotte Catholic Dance Team.  I hope our dancers can have as much as fun as we had!

The parade is on St. Patrick’s Day, which is March 17, 2012.  The parade starts at 9^th & Tryon Street in Uptown Charlotte and ends at 3^rd & Tryon Street.  If you were not already planning to, please stop by the parade to see the festivities and the Dancers Unite dancers!  Since the parade is in Uptown Charlotte, it is close to our dance studio.

If you are a current dancer at Dancers Unite and are interested in being part of the parade, please contact the dance studio ASAP to see if you can participate.  Our competition team will be dancing, but a select number of non-competitive dancers can hold the banner and will be selected on a first come, first serve basis.  For more information on how to become part of our Competition Team, please see our Competition Page.

Tap Dancing Classes in Charlotte

Dancers Unite has great tap dancing classes here in Charlotte!  We offer tap starting at age 2 and offer tap classes for older children and teens as well.  We have advanced tap lessons for our advanced teens and also compete in tap.  The first dance class I ever took was tap and it has always held a special place in my heart, so I am proud of the tap program at Dancers Unite.

Musical Theater Dance Class in Charlotte

My dance studio, Dancers Unite, has a great musical theater dance class in Charlotte!  The musical theater dance class is for students in fourth, fifth and sixth grade.  Students in the class work on musical theater dance choreography, which is like the kind of dancing you might see in a Broadway musical.  If your child loves watching musicals on the stage or in the movies, then this is the class for him or her!

Convenient Toddler Dance Classes for Working Parents in Charlotte NC

Dancers Unite has many convenient toddler dance classes for working parents in Charlotte, NC.  Take our Thursday 5:00 PM 3 year old dance class.  It is after work for a lot of parents, and since we are located in the Dilworth neighborhood of Charlotte, we are a couple of minutes away from daycare centers around uptown Charlotte.  So you can take your child to dance class after work is over and then be done for the day!  Next week we have a Monday 5:00 PM class starting for beginner 2 and 3 year olds, so please see our Intro To Dance Class for more information about that class.

Jazz Dancing Class in Charlotte NC

Dancers Unite has a great jazz dancing class in Charlotte, NC for teens.  The advanced level teen class is already closed (DU closes classes that reach the size limit to make sure every student gets lots of attention from the teachers) but the beginner level class is still open for registration.

Students in this class can learn so much because of the individual attention from teachers.  Also, if you join ASAP, you can be in DU’s yearly recital, held this June at Dana Auditorium on Selwyn Avenue in Myers Park.

Full Day Dance Camp in Charlotte NC

Looking for a full day camp for your child?  Try the World Dance Camp at Dancers Unite!

The World Dance Camp at Dancers Unite is a wonderful experience for your child!  Each day will be focused on a different part of the world.  Campers will learn native dances of each part of the world by different teachers with expertise in the dance forms.  The campers will also learn history of the different parts of the world as well!  It is a wonderful mix of history and arts. 

The camp meets Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM.  We also have the option for working parents to sign your child up for extended hours.  Our extended hours run from 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM, for an additional cost.

Charlotte NC Camp for Little Princesses

Does your child love pretending to be a princess? Does your child dance around the house? Then it sounds like this summer your child should take part in Dancers Unite’s Princess Ballet Camp! Dancers Unite combines ballet lessons and creative movement activities into a one week camp, with each day having a different Princess theme. This is a fun camp for both new students to dance and students with previous dance experience.

Charlotte Dance Studio 2011 In Review

It’s hard to believe 2011 is about to end!  What a year it has been for Dancers Unite!  Some of our highlights have been:

Performances at:

• Peek-a-Boo Couture Fashion Show at the Hilton Garden Inn on Ayrsley Town Blvd in Charlotte
• Uplifting Little Ladies Pageant at the CN Jenkins Memorial Presbyterian Church on Statesville Avenue in Charlotte
• Charlotte Mommies Event at Olympic High School on Sandy Porter Road in Charlotte
• Matthews Hometown Holiday Celebration & Tree Lighting on Matthews Station Street in Matthews

We also had a wonderful competition season, with wins at regional competitions and our national competition at Showstoppers National Finals in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

Dancers Unite is not the type of dance studio, though, to rest on our laurels.  2012 should be even better!  With performances at the Capital One Bowl in Orlando, Florida coming up in a few days and a performance at the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City in November 2012, how could it not be?

Cardio Exercise Class in Charlotte NC

With the New Year just a few days away, a lot of you are planning New Year’s Resolutions.  A great New Year’s Resolution is to lose weight, and if you are serious about doing this, then a great way to lose weight is cardio exercise.  If you want cardio exercise, then why not try the Latin Dance Course at Dancers Unite?

The Latin Dance Course is a high energy class that’s a great workout!  A fun thing about it is when you take the course you’re not just burning calories, you’re learning wonderful Latin Dances: Salsa, Cha Cha, Merengue, Bachata, Rumba and the Hustle!

Charlotte NC Dance Studio Performing in Orlando

Today is a very exciting day for Dancers Unite.  Two of our dancers, Allie and Faith, are going to Orlando so that they can dance at the Capital One Bowl Halftime Show!  Through our dance studio they qualified to dance in this prestigious event.  The game is not until Monday, but in the meantime they get to enjoy all kinds of festivities, including trips to Universal Studios and Disney World!

At Dancers Unite, we are always trying to give our dancers opportunities to not only dance and perform in Charlotte, but across the country as well.  For example, next Thanksgiving our dancers ages 14 to 18 years old can dance at the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade!

Dance Courses in Charlotte NC Starting January 2012

With 2012 just a few days away, it’s a great time to start a brand new dance class!  Dancers Unite has new sessions of popular dance classes starting in January.

• Latin Dance Course – This class is for adults.  Students in the class learn multiple Latin Dances: Cha Cha, Hustle, Merengue, Bachata, Rumba and of course the Salsa!

Meets on Tuesday Evenings for 6 weeks starting January 3^rd , 2012

• Belly Dance – This class is for students ages 8 to 98!  There are 2 levels, one for beginner and one for advanced students.  Students in the beginner class can have little to no belly dance experience.

Meets on Wednesday Evenings for 5 weeks starting January 4^th, 2012

• Introduction to Dance – This class is for beginner 2 and 3 year olds.  Students in this class are introduced to multiple dance forms: ballet, tap, creative movement and tumbling.

Meets on Monday Evenings for 4 weeks starting January 9^th, 2012

Ballet Classes for Kids in Charlotte

Dancers Unite has great ballet classes for kids in Charlotte!  I am very proud of the ballet program in place at our dance studio.  Kids can start learning ballet fundamentals at our dance studio as early as age two.  Children in our ballet classes:

• Learn proper ballet terminology
• Develop better coordination
• Develop better balance
• Develop better poise

We are able to achieve this at our dance studio by having great student to teacher ratios as well as a highly qualified staff of dance instructors.
